The Journey of a Cult tends to be defined by clear stages.

1. The Grand Vision

An inspiring figure or figureheads present a revolutionary approach offering a solution for alienated and vulnerable people.

And so it goes. Plans are in motion to storm the compound in Australia. Pressure is mounting. Smoke is rising from the out-houses. One individual, vulnerable, nervous, the words HIGH RELEASE POINT displayed prominently as a symbol, has emerged through the lines and is taken aside in secrecy towards an inconclusive loan stint at Derbyshire.

Do you recall the beginning, when everything was fresh? The days of Bazball 1.0, of pure instinct.

2. Love-Bombing

Movement founders guarantee a fresh beginning, optimism ahead, love, success within a community with shared faith in the philosophy.

What did it represent initially? Just men on a balcony feeling good. Ink. Strength. Jawlines. Elite male wellness energy. Admittedly, England’s players often say it’s not a real term, ironically because if it doesn’t exist, what was that spectacle?

However, everyone understands the concept. It’s the player playing a shot so outrageous it defies description. It’s the thrill of the leader in his final form, an expression conveying: thoughtful warrior, beard made of wood, natural look, genuinely raw you wouldn’t be surprised to glance over and notice he’s fielding in the field shirtless holding a fish.

It’s the opener still being allowed addressing the media, resembling a happy little woodland creature in a waistcoat, saying stuff like we’re breaking down traditions. Indeed, the energy, for quite a long time, was entirely positive.

3. Expansion Period

Building period. Cohesion maintained via memorization of key phrases. These principles are often illogical to prove commitment.

Does anyone else feel? The reaction, the outrage, the disappointment post-defeat feels overblown, unwarranted. The performance was poor on the field, as is typical there. Currently, we see the criticism, the frustration, the perception of the team as a kind of abomination. It’s the colonial game of the British, the pioneering brand. And notably, Britain is itself a cult, a structure of hidden ranks, a place that literally still has a king.

The players have been isolated in this system since childhood. In trying to escape from it, to foster positivity, they are mirroring their upbringing, creating another a bubble, a limited community, but now with a modern squad and a coach encouraging individuality if you fit the mold.

Stay present. Run towards the danger. However much you change, things stay similar.
