Assassin's Creed Introduces Unexpected AoT Event for Thanksgiving
In a surprising crossover event that breaks traditional expectations, the game developer has revealed an in-game collaboration between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the renowned anime series Attack on Titan. The unexpected holiday event operates from November 25 through December 22, offering no-cost extra story content for Shadows players.
Peculiar Questline Uncovered
According to the authorized announcement, "A mysterious encounter draws characters Naoe and Yasuke into a fresh quest, where rumors of banned ceremonies and monstrous metamorphoses echo through the obscurity." The plot features a "strangely attired woman named Ada" who tasks the pair with journeying into the Gemstone Grotto—a important location from Attack on Titan—to rescue her friend from a clandestine cult.
The questline focuses on "bizarre tests and a fearsome foe" and is open to all players who have gained access to the Yasuke character.
Familiar Places and Metamorphoses
The preview showcases the Underground Chapel from Attack on Titan recreated as the Crystal Cave. This important location was earlier where the Reiss royal family handed down the Founding Titan ability through eras. The trailer finishes with a dramatic sequence showing a character, presumably the captive, transforming into a Titan that rises over Naoe and Yasuke.
Special Items and Extra Content
Players who successfully complete the adventure will acquire an exclusive katana together with several objects secreted throughout the area in hidden chests. The update also includes purchasable Attack on Titan item packs, offering:
- Titan-themed costume for Yasuke
- Mikasa costume for Naoe
- Exclusive weapons
- Survey Corps vehicle
Third Free Story Addition
This update also adds the game's third free story episode, titled "A Puzzlement." This playful adventure teams Naoe and Yasuke as they trade characteristic techniques: Naoe debuts a performative variation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke masters non-lethal stealth takedowns. True to its name, "The Mystery" also features a new environmental puzzle that may eventually explain some lingering questions from the main storyline.

This marks scarcely the first time the Assassin's Creed franchise has partnered with famous anime series. The series formerly featured a 2020 crossover story connecting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga.
